About the Art
The illustrations in Hina, The Goddess are created individually by the artist in the form of linoleum block prints. Each design is hand–cut from an original drawing which is transferred to the linoleum using carbon paper. Special cutting tools of three sizes are used to gouge out the image. Ink is then applied to the linoleum using a roller. The linoleum plate is inverted onto textured printmaking paper and rubbed uniformly. The paper is peeled from the plate surface and allowed to dry.
